South Arabia (South Yemen) Accepted as New Member of UNPO



As part of its political activity and ongoing pursuit of bringing the people of South Yemen's struggle for human rights and self-determination to the international community; The Southern Democratic Assembly (تاج ) has succeeded once again in breaking the political and media blockade on the southern people's issue.

At its 21st session on April 29, 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden, UNPO formally voted to accept South Arabia aka (Peoples Democratic Republic of South Yemen) as a new member.

The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) is an international, nonviolent and democratic membership organization. Its members are indigenous peoples, minorities and unrecognized or occupied territories who have joined together to protect and promote their human and cultural rights, to preserve their environments and to find nonviolent solutions to conflicts which affect them.

As a member of UNPO, South Arabia will be alongside members including Kosovo, Somali-land and Tibet. Some of the benefits of being an UNPO member is having access to and getting the help of NGO's, access to the press, lobbying with members at the UN for autonomy or independence, training in negotiations and rights education.
